cameras, photos and stories
One of our first mounteneering trips was in 1979 in the Ferwall Alps. The Ferwall Alps is a mountain range of the Central Eastern Alps at the border of the Austrian states of Tyrol and Vorarlberg.
We went there in the summer of 1979 for our first real mountain cabin hike. The year before we were for the first time in the Alps and we liked it so much that we decided to try a real tour. I bought the book Alpine Höhenwege von Hütte zu Hütte by Walter Pause, a real classic.
In the book, the hikes are classified according to difficulty level 1 for easy hikes in the Alps and 4 for high Alpine tours. We chose not to go harder than level 2. In retrospect, a wise decision because level 2 turned out to be difficult enough.
Especially for these kinds of walks I traded in my Mamiya C220 for a Minox. And most of the photos below were made with the Minox. In addition soem are made with a Pentax SP1000.
